Blue Solutions, an entity of the Bolloré Group, is a designer and manufacturer of solid-state lithium-metal cells, modules and packs, based in Ergué-Gabéric (Finistère, France) and Boucherville (Québec, Canada).

Since 2011, Blue Solutions has been the only company in the world to mass produce solid-state lithium-metal batteries, using Lithium Metal Polymer (LMP®) technology, to meet the growing needs of sustainable and low-carbon transport. Blue Solutions production sites have ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications.

More than 1 GWh of Blue Solutions batteries have been produced to date, equipping various applications including electric city buses (mainly under the Bluebus and Mercedes-Benz brands), carsharing, port tractors, and stationary storage systems.

Blue Solutions is currently developing a new generation (GEN4) of solid-state lithium-metal batteries dedicated to the electric vehicle market, with a first gigafactory by 2029. This technological breakthrough will combine an ultra-thin metallic lithium anode coupled to a polymer electrolyte operating at room temperature and a high-voltage cathode, meeting the demands of automobile manufacturers: ultra-fast charging speed (less than 20 mins), 40% additional range, optimal safety level.

In addition, Blue Solutions has a unique know-how in lithium metal processing. It produces its own thin-film lithium metal anodes with characteristics (width, thickness, consistency) unmatched in the market, and it has been developing a proprietary recycling process for the recovery of lithium metal from used solid-state cells.
