SAFT

CELLS – MODULES – PACK ASSEMBLY – BMS – RECYCLING

Saft is a pioneering French company specialized in the design and manufacture of high-performance industrial battery. 100 years of expertise, experience in the development of tailor-made solutions.

These solutions are designed for and with our customers in multiple segments: aviation, aerospace, maritime, rail, energy storage, etc (on land, at sea, in the air and in space). Saft is a wholly owned subsidiary of TotalEnergies.

Saft has been offering numerous chemistries to best address its customers’ requirements:

  • nickel-based battery ranges for a multitude of professional and industrial applications, with elements from 0.1 to 1,500 Ah. The robustness, reliability and longevity of nickel batteries are legendary: it is the reference for difficult or demanding applications. At very low temperatures, it provides excellent performance. It is also good for prolonged storage, with limited or non-existent maintenance. Some 80% of all large commercial aircraft use our Ni-Cd batteries. They can also be found in industrial standby applications, on board trains, on offshore platforms and powering telecom masts.
  • primary-lithium battery range consists of three main electro chemistries – Li-SOCl2, Li-SO2, Li-MnO2 – each providing both high-energy and high-power solutions. Proven over time, our technologies can last more than 20 years, making them ideal for use in long-lasting applications where replacement is difficult and expensive.
  • On lithium-ion batteries we offer solutions with different electro chemistries such as NMC, NCA, NMC/NCA and SLFP. They can discharge in less than 10 minutes and can provide emergency power for the Joint Strike Fighter Aircraft F-35, for example, at -40°C, when most batteries would be frozen.
  • In the field of the Battery Storage Systems (BESS) our last projects include:
  • Microsoft data center in Sweden, a BESS in replacement of their diesel back up system.
  • Myrtle solar farm in Houston, Texas. A BESS with a total capacity of storage of 225 megawatt hours (MWh) thanks to 114 containers of high technology.
  • Grandpuits, the biggest solar farm in Ile-de-France with a storage capacity of 43 megawatt hours (MWh).

The company has a global presence in 19 countries with 16 factories abroad and in France, 4300 employees worldwide. It also has two research centers: one in Bordeaux and one in Cockeysville (Maryland, US).
